We're Back!

You didn’t come this far to stop

This little CJ’s gone to market No 509 - For the very last time (at Brighton Mall). What, what, what, wot, what? I hear you say.

Well, on market day, (23 March 2025) I arrive at 8am to set up, and after I have loaded up at the end of the day to go home, it is usually nearly 3pm, and as I am not one of those marketeers who sit down in a chair, but stand up all day, my wee body is starting to complain. So, sadly, the time has come. I have had lots of fun over many years, chatting to old customers and new, enjoyed coffee with mates, and will really miss my weekly outing.

But my final day was full of laughter and frivolity and general mayhem – just like every other Saturday. Although it was a sad occasion, it was a wonderscrumptiuosadoodloofer of a send off.

During the day, some very special things happened. Kerry and the Pirate band were playing right next to my stall, and Kerry sang a couple of songs to me. Mandi Miller was on mainstage and came down especially to say her goodbyes. Thanks guys, much appreciated.

The organisers brought me a bunch of flowers and a card signed by themselves and the stall holders (Never had a bunch of flowers before!). My coffee mates John and Tony shouted me a coffee, and I had a visit from old friend and ex workmate, Alan Farrow. He’s off to live in Perth soon. All very special.

A big thank you to Martha and Emily and the Brighton Seaside market team – you have looked after me so well over the years.

I would also like to acknowledge the wider musical fraternity. You have always supported me, and I could not have achieved what I did without you. You rock!

My neighbour at the market is a lady called Maree. She is such a wonderful caring person and has helped me so much. At the end of the day, her and her partner Brian, helped me load my van.

So, the end of the day came.

I now have a bunch of guitars, a 4-string mandolin, a slide guitar, some ukes and a bunch of accessories to sell.

Think I’ll rent a wee shop in Brighton and call it CJ’s Music Store - now that’s original!

Control yourself CJ, this is not 1973.

Best wishes to you all and thank you so much for your much valued support.

Keep playing music, it’s the soul of life.

See you on line soon!
